Celine Dion to play Macau

Tickets go on sale tomorrow (Friday, February 1) for what promises to be the biggest pop concert Macau has yet seen: Celine Dion, one of the best-selling female vocalists ever, plays at The Venetian Macao Arena on March 15.

For the past four years, the diminutive but powerful Dion has been a star in Las Vegas, having played at Caesar’s Palace in an incredible show choreographed by Frank Dragone. She launches her world tour tomorrow, which will also take in stops in South Africa, Japan, Korea, Australia, Shanghai, Beijing, Europe, Canada and, of course, the US.

Perhaps best remembered for the Titanic theme song, My Heart Will Go On, Dion’s first smash hit was her duet with Peabo Bryson on Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, in 1992. She has sold more than 200 million copies of her albums since then.

Mark Brown, president of the Venetian Macao, made the announcement in a press release yesterday. “Celine Dion is truly a legendary vocal artist in pop music history and the Venetian Macao is proud to bring her to Macao where her remarkable talents can be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike,” Brown said. "Stars of this caliber are rare but we aim to bring more and more of these top class performers to Macao.”

Tickets start at HK$800 and the best seats are available for HK$2,500. Book online at www.venetianmacaotickets.com, by phone on (853) 2882 8818, or in person at Sands Macao Lobby and The Venetian Arena Box Offices.
