Thrills of the Grand PrixChampagne flowing, crowds cheering. Macau roared last weekend as more than 200 racing drivers and riders, as well as tens of thousands of motor sports fans, descended on the city to join the annual Macau Grand Prix. Catch the action on our latest video report. After four days’ intense competition, Britain’s Oliver Jarvis led every lap in the 15-lap race on the 6.1-kilometer Guia street circuit to win the Formula 3 title. The 23-year-old, who finished with a time of 38 minutes and 29.452 seconds, called the victory “the biggest race win of my career.” Japan’s Kodai Tsuikakoshi and Kazuya Oshima finished second and third, respectively. Ever since the late Ayrton Senna’s win here in 1983, the first year Formula 3 run at Macau, this Grand Prix has been regarded as the world’s most prestigious Formula 3 race and a significant stepping stone for motorsport’s stars of the future. This year, Senna’s nephew, Bruno Senna, sponsored by StarWorld, also took part in the event. Unfortunately, however, he crashed during qualifying and was slightly injured, so could not contend for the title. |
