Federer vs. Sampras: say no more

Star-studded tennis doesn’t get any better than this. On Saturday (November 24), current world No.1 Roger Federer and former world No.1 Pete Sampras go head-to-head in Macau at the Venetian. Unfortunately, tickets are all sold out – or at least, the Venetian’s allotted tickets are. Die-hard fans might still want to show up on the day and see who is scalping tickets outside.

The Macau showdown will be the final of a series that takes the two tennis greats first to Seoul and Kuala Lumpur. Apparently, both players felt it was the right place to be: Federer insisted on playing in Macau and Sampras, a fan of Las Vegas, agreed that Macau could not be missed.

Federer beat Sampras on the only occasion they have previously played – in the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2001. The two later had a friendly game at Sampras’ home in Los Angeles and the idea of a Tennis Showdown was born. Without a doubt, the big question on everyone’s mind is whether Pete Sampras is still good enough to giver Federer a run for his money. Apparently, Federer is convinced he is.
