Macau's hottest club is backIt's official. After months of wait, Sky 21 is now formally open once again. Sunday night may have been a school night, but that did not stop party-goers streaming in until the wee hours to celebrate. First-time visitors, Danielle Drayton and Alana Tingle, who dance at Venetian's Bellini Lounge love the look and feel of Sky 21. "I think it's a really nice atmosphere. They've really pulled out all the stops, and it's very impressive," Drayton said. "The music is great and it has taken us back to the 80's and 90's." At the start of the evening, guitarist Dan Lavelle and saxophonist Oliver Smith came together to play three sets of contemporary jazz as part of a four-piece band. "Softly as the Morning Sun", "The Chicken" and a Brazilian tune called "Tristle" were a few of the numbers they played. Sky 21's Terence Yu, formerly with the Jazz Club in Hong Kong's Lan Kwai Fung district is the man behind-the-scenes bringing these jazz artists to Macau and he intends to keep jazz music very much alive here. Local founder Joe Saree (of Thai and Chinese background) says Level 21 is designed as a lounge area for people to talk, with light, live music in the background and sushi bar. Beyond Japanese, you'll also find Thai and Italian food on the menu for lunch or dinner. Level 22, on the other hand, which has indoor lounge seating and outdoor tables with loud music, plenty of room for dancing, drinking and re-charging. Sky 21's best kept secret goes one floor higher to level 23. Here you'll find amazing 360° views of Macau and Zhuhai. And after a long night, you can stretch out on the beds up there and gaze up at the stars. Sky 21 |
