Senna returns to the Macau Grand Prix

For those of you who remember the late Ayrton Senna who was first to win the Macau Grand Prix Formula 3 back in 1983, his nephew, Bruno Senna will race to follow his uncle’s footsteps.

“We are truly delighted to announce that his nephew, Bruno (Senna), will return to our city this November in an attempt to follow in his famous uncle’s footsteps, and add the Senna name to our illustrious list of winners for a second time.” Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) director João Manuel Costa Antunes said.

This year is particularly special for Macau, as it marks the 25th anniversary of the Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix.

For the first time, Macau’s very own Andre Couto will race the Denso Toyota Supra HV-R hybrid and the A1 GP car is also being introduced to the 6.2-km Guia Circuit for the first time.

“The hottest names in Formula 1 today have all raced in Macau, including the man of the moment and F1 World Championship-contender Lewis Hamilton, who won the 2004 Qualification Race here,” Costa Antunes said. “Whoever adds his name to those of Michael Schumacher, David Coulthard, Takuma Sato and of course Ayrton Senna in the Macau Grand Prix Hall of Fame will certainly have the attention of the world.”
