Expo Real Asia puts Macau on hold

Expo Real Asia is re-evaluating the location for its next real estate conference in Asia this year. Originally scheduled to be held in Macau this year at the Venetian, organizer, Messe München, says it has decided to re-examine real estate trends across Asia first before confirming the destination.

Destination Macau contacted the Singapore branch of Messe Munchen to find out why Expo Real Asia would not be returning to Macau.

“We’re watching the trends, and want to go with the flow of industry patterns,” T. Vijay, assistant director of marketing communications for MMI (Munich International Trade Fairs) based in Singapore says. “Our marketing research team in Munich is putting together data now and monitoring trends which can be erratic.”

He said Expo Real Asia could return to Shanghai, Tokyo or perhaps try a new destination – Vietnam – this year. He also did not rule out Macau.

Expo Real Asia was held in December last year at the Macau Tower and an announcement was made at the conference of plans to return to Macau with a much larger-scale exhibition at the new Venetian Macao.
