A CATS Christmas

For the first time, Andrew Lloyd Webber's CATS will spend Christmas in Macau, with performances at the Macao Cultural Center from December
24 - 30.

Macau marks the first leg of the CATS China tour, thanks to the Macau Cultural Centre, The Really Useful Group and Wynn Macau partnership.

“The show will tour Macau this December, and we are honoured to be the first leg which starts on Christmas Eve," the cultural center's director, Nelma Wong Morais Alves says.

"CATS will then move on to Guangzhou, Beijing, Wuhan, Chengdu, Dongguan and Shenzhen – the longest continuously touring show in American theater history. We believe CATS is the perfect musical for Macau, because it transcends language barriers and people of all ages can come to see the performance," Wong adds.

Ian Coughlan, president of Wynn Macau said Wynn is more than happy to support Macau’s artistic scene.

"To me, this production is a reminder of Macau’s potential as a must-see destination in Asia," Coughlan says. "Our sponsorship of CATS and partnership with the Macao Cultural Center represents our latest investment in this, the new Macau. There’s a lot of synergy between the CATS musical and the Wynn experience – celebration, excitement, energy."

Kerry Comerford, general manager of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Really Useful Company Asia Pacific, which is involved in theater and concert production, recording, merchandising, music publishing, etc. said CATS' major appeal around the world is the dance, the lights, the sets, costumes and music.

"CATS, based on a series of poems by T. S. Eliot, surpassed Phantom of the Opera as a worldwide record breaker once 7,485 performances were played in New York."
