It's official: Barthes heads for BeijingPierre Barthes, general manager of the Mandarin Oriental, Macau will depart Macau early next month to take on the role of pre-opening General Manager for the new Mandarin Oriental hotel in Beijing. Barthes received final confirmation on his move today (July 12), and on August 6, he will leave Macau, to join the 241-room Mandarin Oriental, Beijing which is now being built in Beijing’s central business district, next to Shangri-La's China World. The hotel, which is being built in partnership with CCTV, is slated to open by May 1, 2008 just ahead of the Olympics. Executive Assistant Manager-Rooms Gigi Vega will take over the reigns until Barthes' new replacement comes on board this fall. |
